This painting borders between realism and abstraction. Are there figures entering the subway under neon lights? It has incredible sense of depth. I love the light coming from behind.

Juror's Comments: The realism is incredible against the abstract background. The orange glows. The surface is very exciting.

Juror's Comments: Great use of transparent paint and opaques. I love the contrast between the happening and the contrived. The angels glow as I would imagine angels.

Juror's Comments: This painting has gorgeous surface treatment. The light glows out of the middle. It has incredible colors.

“Peonies & Silver” / 18”x 26”
Juror's Comments: He knows what he is doing; incredible contrast just knocks my socks off! The great dark makes the front glow. Wonderful lost edges on the silver vase.
